Privacy statement
byte8 cares about handling your data carefully. This statement explains what data we process, why, for how long and which rights you have.
Last updated: 1 June 2026
Who is responsible
byte8 is responsible for processing your data. You can find us at Bedrijvenpark Twente 295, 7602 KK Almelo, the Netherlands. Questions about privacy? Email hello@byte8.ai.
What data we process
We process only what you share with us, plus one technical preference:
- Through the contact form: your name, email address, phone number, company name, VAT number and the content of your message.
- A technical preference: the theme you choose (light or dark).
How your data reaches us
The contact form stores nothing on our servers. When you submit it, your own email program opens a message to hello@byte8.ai that you send yourself. So we receive your data as a regular email.
VAT number and VIES
If you have your VAT number checked, we send it to VIES, the official validation service of the European Commission, to verify it and retrieve the registered company name. We do not store or log the number in the process: it is used only for that check.
Why we process your data
We use your data to answer your request and to prepare or carry out a possible collaboration. The legal basis is the performance of, or steps leading to, an agreement, and our legitimate interest in following up on contact requests properly.
How long we keep your data
We keep your message for as long as needed to handle your request and any collaboration, and no longer than necessary or legally required after that. We then delete it.
Sharing with others
We never sell your data. We do use suppliers that help us run the site and email: our website runs on Vercel and VAT checks go through VIES of the European Commission. With suppliers that process personal data on our behalf we put data processing agreements in place.
Cookies and storage
We use no tracking or marketing cookies. For visitor statistics we run Vercel Web Analytics: it is cookieless, anonymous and aggregated, and never ties anything back to you as a person. The only thing we store locally in your browser is your theme preference (light or dark), purely functional. The map on our contact page runs on OpenStreetMap and sets no cookies. That is why you do not need a cookie banner with us.
Security
We handle your data carefully and take appropriate technical and organisational measures. Privacy and security are part of the design for us, not an afterthought.
Your rights
You have a number of rights regarding your own data:
- Access to and a copy of your data
- Correction or completion
- Erasure
- Objection to the processing
- Filing a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority
Want to use one of these rights? Email hello@byte8.ai and we will help you.
Questions or a complaint
Questions about this statement or about your data? Email hello@byte8.ai. You can also file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority via autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl.
